Accreditation and how to get it
Bnode and its’ partner Consultants hold Good Business Charter (GBC) Accreditation and know the accreditation process and what it takes to get accreditation from the inside out as we’ve been through it ourselves.
We’ll work with you to make sure that everything is where it needs to be so that your credentials are all in order and the requisite evidence is present and correct – on your website, in your socials, and embedded within your business or organisation. This means that you get it right, first time. Getting it right first time not only saves you the wasted time, effort and expense of having to re-submit your application for Accreditation but proves that your business or organisation “walks the talk” – i.e. that you’re reputable, committed and have credibility and that you meet all of the necessary criteria, with your credentials and social proof in place (and in the right place on your website).
We can then train you and your staff on how best to embody and communicate your values and ethical credentials.

According to a recent survey by the Good Business Charter (GBC) and the TSB, fully “97% of the public want businesses to act responsibly”.
Accreditation is a great way of demonstrating and communicating your values and ethical credentials to your customers, clients, suppliers, employees, volunteers or other stakeholders.
It shows that you are a good, responsible, ethical business or organisation and that you care about the core values of fair pay; fair tax; fair hours and contracts; employee (or volunteer) well-being; equality, diversity and inclusion; ethical sourcing and supply; employee representation; commitment to customers; prompt payment to suppliers and service providers; and environmental responsibility.
Getting accredited brings many benefits for a business or organisation that’s based in Yorkshire.
As an endorsement of your ethical business or organisation, gaining an accreditation enhances your good business credentials, actually increases consumer and trade sales from conscious customers in the Yorkshire region; shows that you meet ethical and sustainable supply chain criteria; improves employee relations and staff retention; is great for public relations; and demonstrates your company, organisation or brand values and ethics too.
As far as the Good Business Charter (GBC) is concerned, any size of business or organisation can apply for accreditation – from sole traders and solopreneurs, SMEs to large corporates and large organisations – all the way up to towns, cities, counties or regions for GBC place-based accreditation.
So, size is not a barrier to gaining accreditation – big or small.
York became the first city to adopt the GBC place-based scheme and become accredited, in 2021 – another first for Yorkshire.
GBC York is backed by the City of York Council, which has adopted the Charter as part of its wider plans for its economic strategy.
As the Good Business Charter say on their York: First GBC City page:
“Key organisations in the city who have signed up to the charter include the City of York Council, the University of York, Aviva, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is hoped other cities across the country will follow York’s example and champion signing up to the Charter.”
